WHY THIS STARTING POINT

Why Agile for Road to Sky?

The recommendation connects the sustained climbing character of the route with a setup that allows movement through the centre and adds support toward the outside.

01

Sustained climbing load

Most of the session is one long ascent, so the setup needs to remain predictable under a continuous load.

02

Seated and standing changes

Agile leaves room for natural movement when you alternate between seated climbing and short standing efforts.

03

Progressive outer support

The open centre allows freer response while the firmer outside positions provide a clearer return as movement increases.

ROAD TO SKY, EXPLAINED

From the Jungle approach to Alpe du Zwift.

The route is simple to identify, but its long, concentrated climbing load makes a precise starting setup useful.

01

What is Road to Sky?

Road to Sky is a 17.3 km point-to-point route in Watopia with 1,045 metres of elevation. It is the shortest route that includes Alpe du Zwift.

02

How is the route structured?

A short approach drops from the Jungle start area onto the dirt Jungle Circuit. The majority of the route is then the continuous ascent to the Alpe du Zwift KOM banner.

03

Where does the climb begin?

The actual Alpe du Zwift climb begins after the Jungle approach, at the right turn off the Jungle Circuit. From there, the main climb runs for roughly 12.2 km at an average gradient of about 8.5%.

04

Why does it feel different from a flat route?

The long gradient keeps torque and body tension more consistent. Riders often alternate between seated and standing positions without the frequent recovery phases found on flatter routes.

05

What does Agile change?

Agile changes the mechanical movement and return feel beneath the trainer and front support. It does not change the gradient in Zwift, trainer resistance, gearing or the pacing required for the climb.

06

Zwift Ride or Bike?

Zwift Ride uses its dedicated front adapter with one medium green Motion Ball. A Bike uses the bicycle front support with four green Motion Balls. The rear layout remains specific to the smart trainer.

GOOD TO KNOW

Road to Sky setup questions.

Is Agile the only currently available Ride Mode?

Yes. Agile is the only Ride Mode currently released for use. Other Ride Modes remain marked as coming soon.

Does this setup work with every smart trainer?

No. ROCKERON hardware and ball positions are trainer-specific. This selector currently covers Wahoo KICKR CORE 2 and Van Rysel D100 or D500.

Which setup applies to Zwift Ride?

Select Zwift Ride in the front-support control. The matching front adapter uses one medium green Motion Ball.

Which setup applies to a Bike?

Select Bike in the front-support control. The bicycle front support uses four medium green Motion Balls.

Do I need a complete ROCKERON system?

Yes. The route setup shown assumes matching trainer-specific rear hardware and the correct front support. A front support on its own is not a complete front-and-rear setup.

Can I change Motion Balls between rides?

Yes. Unload the system and change Motion Balls only between rides. Check every position before riding again and never alter the setup while moving.
